Wedding Life Coaching!

It’s hard to believe, but your big wedding day is finally getting closer. Maybe you have dreamed of getting married your whole life. Or if you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community, you may never thought it would be possible to even get married, never mind, legally, romantically and spiritually being able to marry the person you love. After the wedding proposal, you likely basked in the bliss of all that is to come with the person you want to spend your life.

And then the wedding anxiety begins to kick in as you think of everything you have to get done. Setting the date. Picking the venue. The decorations. Who to invite and where to seat them. What food will you serve. What are the wedding colors? And oh yeah, how do I / we get to actually make the wedding about us and create cherished memories?

The list is almost endless. And it can be completely overwhelming. We get so caught up in the planning of it all that sometimes, we lose focus on the most important part of it all – the start of your life with your partner. One of the biggest milestones of your entire life. It deserves solid planning and this is where wedding life coaching comes in.

It’s tempting to just go through everything, stressed and overwhelmed, because after all, it’s just part of the process, right? Well, yes and no. It doesn’t mean that you have to let it control your mental health and well-being. You’ve heard of a wedding planner, I’m sure.

But have you also considered working with a wedding life coach to help you during this period? I bet not, but a life coach who is experienced in helping individuals and couples get emotionally ready for the wedding AND marriage can really be an important addition to making sure you have the best day (and life) possible. Let’s go over it.

1. Life Coaching For A Wedding? Really?

It’s shocking for many people to hear, but a life coach isn’t just someone who is there for you to help you set goals with your career and personal life. Life coaching has evolved in recent years and now there are many different types of life coaches. A wedding life coach is a life coach that helps you learn how to create the best wedding ever (that you actually experience and remember for the rest of your life).

A wedding life coach can help be your moral support during this time. Teaching you tools and tricks to making sure that you stay focused on what you really want out of this time.

Helping you to set realistic goals and expectations for the big day. And keeping you focused on the most important part of it all – the marriage itself.

With a wedding life coach, you aren’t just learning to set goals for the wedding itself. But you are also learning how to keep your anxiety at bay so that it doesn’t become too stressful. With so much to do and think about, losing your focus while planning the big day is common. Which then leads to indecisiveness or worst, waiting until the last minute to make decisions.

Wedding life coaching can also teach you techniques to ‘slow down time’ so that you get to fully experience your wedding. Just like in sports psychology, guided visualization of your wedding, can help you process what’s happening more deeply.

As a wedding life coach, my goal is to teach you how on your big day, you can relish in the memories of what you experience that day. To not let all the minute details of decorations and food and seating arrangement distract you from enjoying the reason you are doing it in the first place.

Everyone does it. They get so caught up in all the little details that the process of getting married starts to feel exactly like a chore. It’s one thing to do after another. It doesn’t have to be this way!

2. What Wedding Life Coaching Can Teach You About Yourself And Your Marriage

As a Wedding life coach, my job isn’t just to help you prepare for the big day. As a trained and licensed therapist, I also know the mental health components that come with this new chapter you are starting. Not only before and during the big day, but after.

So many couples start this new chapter off so focused on the wedding, that the marriage becomes a distant idea. So when the festivities are over, they are left with a, “Now what?” look on their faces. Again, it doesn’t have to be this way and wedding life coaching can help you have a very different experience on the day and long after.

A wedding life coach can help you find clarity about what you want out of your marriage. It can help you set goals with your partner of how you want the marriage to go. Keeping you on the same page as them but also learning to compromise and keep each other first.
